Couldn't that be said no matter what state we found ourselves? I mean, it could always be a teensy bit better, couldn't it? So what does this actually say about the problem of evil?

Sorry, I should've been clearer. I didn't mean to imply that the question expresses the argument in the most forceful way, but rather that it gives one a sense of the problem in a quick and intuitive way.
