Contrarian Philosophy of Religion Assertion Wednesday

The creation of a universe ex nihilo is metaphysically impossible, and so the posterior probability of cosmic fine-tuning on the hypothesis of classical theism is zero.

I agree. And I'm a monotheist. So are you an atheist? If you said so somewhere, I missed it.

Hi Cary,

I'm an agnostic.

Why do you say that "The creation of a universe ex nihilo is metaphysically impossible"?

Hi Domingos,

I argue for the claim (e.g.) here, here, and here.

As I like to put it, saying that ex nihil creation of concrete objects is possible with enough power is like saying that barfing up a missed lunch is possible with a sufficiently strenuous dry heave.

Best,
EA

Thank you EA. I'd really like to know more about your journey. You appear to be among the few people on this planet worth talking to.
